It's not always about the money
Results Sales has been in the "Paint Industry" since 1970 and has forgotten more than some of the new "kids on the block" know about this business. We decided it was time to use some of these experiences and give something back to the community.
We recently teamed with a large paint manufacturer and designed an apprenticeship program to train some of the homeless at a shelter called "Pinellas Hope". Our training team designed a three week program that graduated twenty motivated individuals that are ready to pursue a career as a painter within this industry. At the end of the class each of them was furnished with a set of tools that has a value of over $200. We started with a handsome canvas tool bag, then we added new tools every week. When they graduated and received their certificate, they all got to keep their tools. It included numerous contractor brushes, scrapers, respirators, sandpaper, training manuals and more.
We had coverage from the University of South Florida's Business School (MBA) since we implemented some of their ideas and strategies.
When we finished, the director was using our program as a model to design more training programs that will help these individuals to find work (even better a career). We did an evaluation at the end of the class and have even more ideas for the future.
We believe in people and feel that with a little help (not all needs to come from the government) and love we can make a small difference.
